An unanticipated benefit of my recent running training: I can now sprint to catch a train I'm late for much faster than I ever could before.

It takes an impressive level of spite to hand-edit your blog's HTML to add "rel=nofollow" to all positive links about something you dislike.

RoyHugo: @tieguy ah! @fontana was faster than me!

Yup, in the initial discussion. Still, your post nagged me to actually post the blog post, so that's something :)

Sigh, very sad I'm missing it. Enjoy, make sure no one does anything stupid to licenses without me ;)

@tieguy will try to channel any evident stupidity into additional permissions.

Glyn Moody calls MPL 2.0 "a big step forward in terms of tidying up the license mess in the free software world." Nice! http://ur1.ca/7whqs

They are conceptually similar, but the much-reduced overhead of MPL may make it a separate place in the spectrum in practice.
-
Should not !LGPL group desc be updated: "The space between GPL and [-Apache-2.0-] {+MPL-2.0+} License." ?
-
-
Yes, they can designate any license as a "subsequent version of the license." MPL 2 would be an obvious choice.
-
@fontana could MPL 2 be considered "later" for CDDL?
-
Tom: no. Only Sun can create a "later version" of CDDL.

Huge respect for my Japanese clients who can hold a coherent, high-level legal conversation in English. Makes me feel very unaccomplished.

First new year's resolution, 10 days late: I will use 'hereditary license' any time I am tempted to say 'viral license.'

All days would be better if they started with someone calling your writing "beautiful." It will be a great year if today indicates a trend!

Watching the beginning of a guaranteed-to-be-disastrous-and-pointless email thread, and again very sad that mailing lists lack social cues.

Like everyone else excusing themselves and heading to the kitchen to refill their drinks?
-
Yup, exactly like that. Or quiet eye rolling, etc. Signals that are lower cost and lower noise than full-blown emails/shouting matches.
-
I really like the practice of kicking people who are being dicks off of mailing lists. It's simple and effective and keeps things civil.
