Flash is 'dying' according to Steve Jobs. Oh I sure hope so. http://bit.ly/9Vla8I

@popey as do I, I just hope that the "iPhone app store" model is likewise dying.

@popey He thinks that HTML5 will replace Flash. But as far as I can tell HTML5 has no support for live video streaming.

@popey I hope Jobs is right, but I think he's just saying that to cover his arse.

@yamatt ogg should do live streaming, no? the only reason <video> != ogg is because of some industrymonopolists. i've nothing against dirac.

@openuniverse I'm not sure if the HTTP protocol will support that.

@yamatt i'm NO expert, but if http can support flash, why couldn't it support live streaming ogg? (if http is the issue)

@openuniverse what I mean is that you can stream ogg, you can trick HTTP to stream. But can browser and built in player understand it.

@yamatt considering that browser is any other piece of software, and vorbis at least was made for online radio or something? i hope.

@openuniverse it's worth testing. But I'm thinking it wasn't designed with live streaming in mind.

@yamatt it seems clear that from the time mozilla added ogg <video> support, the idea was to compete with flash, not merely hope.

@openuniverse Mozilla and other browser developers added support for HTML5 so that they could test the draft spec.

@yamatt well, html holds the web together, and html5 should reflect the world now. non-free plugins are forthelose, must be fought.

@yamatt air.mozilla.com has live streaming every week, and it works "like a charm" #mozilla #xiph..

@openuniverse W3C's plan was to bring HTML up to date, competing with Flash was only a small part. But I think they missed a trick.

@gegoxaren I wasn't aware of that. Looks like it works fine then. I'm glad it does work.
