@erican In fact, I think they've been saying that you /do/ need ownership, they just won't give it to you.
-
@erican I know, practically a luddite. I should eschew all that silly ownership with its TCO, and replace it with a single monthly fee.
-
@erican But, OTOH, I do see huge benefits in setting up some server in the office corner and have it run for years.
-
@erican Innovative? Not really, I see no difference between it and hundreds of Software-as-Service strategies.
-
@erican Okay, it's like normal computing, except you don't get to own anything at all.

@erican Yeah. The worst thing is 'feeling pressure' to write a blog post. That way lies danger. Now I'm not afraid of lengthy radio silence.
-
@erican Welcome back. Thought you'd been quiet. A short break is sometimes therapeutic and necessary.

@erican I'm really bad at first drafts. I can't force myself to just vomit up words and edit later. I constantly edit, and that's boring.
-
@erican My issue is that I've already watched the scene a million times; writing is so much slower than thinking.
-
@erican My current trick for getting around writer's block is not writing any more books for a while :)
-
@erican That might be a good way to do it. I usually get bored after a few paragraphs going forward. I'll try the reverse.
-
@erican I've never had writer's block. I've only get "writer's apathy". Ideas are easy, bothering with executing them is hard.
-
@erican Yes - definitely

@erican NP. I spent years as a teacher. I love explaining concepts. I could talk all day.
-
@erican "Desktop environment" is a complicated concept and hard to explain. It is an application and it host applications.
-
@erican KDE is exactly what the initials stand for: a desktop environment.
-
