Got my !statusnet instance up and running now. Everything seems to be working fine thus far :)

The robots just post various status-updates; it's (mostly) humans who read those updates + occasionally post notes in response to robots.

Robots post #helloworld & #goodnight w/ location when they turn on/off; log upgrades etc. SQL DB is mined to show where…

Looking at my !statusnet error logfile, I figure out StatusNet is slowly dying... less and less instances, more & more errors :(

@arnebab my VPS is only around $40 USD/yr, and it is quite speedy. there are options out there.

I normally use about 100GiB/month, but I already had 1 spike up to 500GiB and I don’t want to lose the site if I put up something popular :)

@johanv also as a sidenote, I've been running SN stable with no updates since I started my instance. No problems (except for mariadb)

Anyone else having "wait a minute" message and failure when trying to import !identica backup into fresh !statusnet instance?

at first it timed out then I increased the timeout variable very hi and still only got a partial import.

Took 6 mos for me to reverse engineer the D* "salmon" protocol. J. Panzer is a friend. He facepalm'd after I told him what they implemented.
