Sleet rattles on the roof like a fast typist. Two deer in the springhouse meadow: when they stop moving, they vanish into the brown weeds.

Seeing a 20:1 spammer to user ratio in the Ubuntu MI group. Wondering if it's possible to just delete the group and have done with it.

Aren’t group admins able to do it? Or does it require a site moderator?

@support @evan @identica !identica #search #bug found "client version is higher than daemon version (client is v.1.25, daemon is v.1.22)"
-
When is it going to be fixed?
-
@rootbrian well, since I don't work for status.net, I do not know.. :D
-
I think it's working now. Came about due to a version mismatch between Sphinx server in Lucid and the available PHP Sphinx client. #PITA

I was using http for my OpenID URL on identica. Logged in w/ password, added https, logged out, logged in w/ https successfully.
-
Here's the error message I was getting using http. http://i.imgur.com/IToXp.jpg
-
Whatever the issue was, using https in the OpenID URL works fine, so problem solved.

Working hard on skills of walking away from something unfinished to return later, rather than just continuing until either it or I am done.

Is #flossip a word yet? It should be.

we were flossiping at the beer cooler with our fellow neckbeards the other day...

It's a cool name for a band!

@yamatt I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to punch you in the face at #FOSDEM. Come up and say hi next time!

Nope, if I don't like something I say so. If I don't like what I'm hearing I can always put the phone down.

5 actually, including that one.

How do I set up indentica/stausnet on my own site?
about 18 hours ago from web-
Good luck. Don’t forget to ask any questions to the !feds group as you have them. ;)
-
Can't seem to backup my account?
-
doesn't seem to be showing up. :(

-
@dickturpin when are you gonna invite me on the show? /cc @yamatt.
-
You know what that's not a bad idea as it happens. What's your email address as you know how I hate 140 characters. I'd love to have you on.
-
@dickturpin I’m really looking forward to that episode!
-
So am I. Just need to arrange it. :-D

The Statusnet service hook on Github doesn't seem to work properly. I push one commit, the last two get posted instead.

Can you show me a link? I haven't seen that before.
-
The brokenness or the service hook? I think it wasn't working temporarily because I was using a https url.

summary of next tech cycle: HTML5inTheCloud; or one may surmise from http://www.tldrconf.com (friend is organizing, unsure why "tl;dr")

I think "tl;dr" because supposedly attention span will decrease with these devices.

___________ is to arch, what sabayon is to gentoo. http://identi.ca/url/66639540

THAT is some pretty obscure matching, there, sir.

lol... i might add "...only arch is not dead" but i wouldn't like to start a flame war ;)
-
-
@eff if you use #https to get data from a trusted place to an untrusted one, it's not really that secure.
-
I understand that. I think that most people are more concerned about abuse by service providers than MITM attacks.
-
If people don't trust services they choose, they would trust less services they don't choose--every hop along the transit path.

For the last ~15 years I've developed by running a Web server on my laptop. Using a virtual machine this week; I'll never go back.

I'm more or less happy with what I've got and don't see enough in VirtualBox to make it worth switching.
-
@evan: Only reason to switch to Virtualbox is if you're doing anything graphically heavy. KVM is pretty slow in that regard.
-
Right; I've never made KVM do 3D-accelerated graphics. But I don't need that for a dev web server.
