Have discovered !emacs dirtree mode which is making me a much happier user.

@dubfish yw. Btw. you have to add (setq tree-widget-image-enable nil) to your .emacs or you get IMO crappy Windows 3.11 style icons.

@dubfish No, dirtree is a separate module to dired - http://ur1.ca/88f1y. Gives a nice graphical directory view.

I see why you wanted it 'on top' now. BTW, That's an interesting use of an !emacs mode. I'd have never thought to do that.

sr-speedbar does something similar, but with many hacks; your straightforward snippet solves it the pareto-way :)

Rebound C-h to delete-backward-char in !emacs for compat with my shell. Discovered I've fiercely entrenched muscle memory to surmount.

@vanden I may have to try this. I already have C-w bound to 'backward-kill-word.

@ggoes Me too; rebound C-h for the full effect. So far, so good, save mentioned stickiness of habits.

@singpolyma yes, in fact I believe I have an #rstatus account. There was some bug in statusnet that prevented rstatus messages getting thru

same here. Saw movie later. Movie ref makes #denticideispainless funnier, bec. relevant character Painless Pole aka Jawbreaker was dentist.

It's always so jarring when I hit tab and !emacs *doesn't* put the line in the perfect spot. Damn languages with loose syntax rules.
