Have discovered !emacs dirtree mode which is making me a much happier user.

@dubfish yw. Btw. you have to add (setq tree-widget-image-enable nil) to your .emacs or you get IMO crappy Windows 3.11 style icons.

I see why you wanted it 'on top' now. BTW, That's an interesting use of an !emacs mode. I'd have never thought to do that.

sr-speedbar does something similar, but with many hacks; your straightforward snippet solves it the pareto-way :)

Rebound C-h to delete-backward-char in !emacs for compat with my shell. Discovered I've fiercely entrenched muscle memory to surmount.
