    I get happy when I find a website where cypherpunks/cypherpunks works.

    Today is a sad day. The one person I thought would never succumb to the cult of mac has fallen. RIProprietarySoftware, @macros

    @bkuhn You should write a blog post about it.

    I know the whole "Shit #{foo} people say" thing is kind of played out, but this is pretty funny. Shit programmers say: http://is.gd/i8lr84

    I don't think I've run ./configure && make so many times since I was trying to get Gnome pre-1.0 built from CVS in 1998.

    @bkuhn I don't think so.

    Maybe all my ruby version teeth gnashing will go away once rails 4.0 is released (which will drop support for < 1.9.3). More likely, worse.

    @bkuhn Jason is there, too, FWIW. I don't think he is giving any talks, though.

    But you have to make sure you get the right dependencies. It's kind of moot, though, because gem is just going to shit on everything anyway.

    I think @macros was right. The best way to install 1.9.3 on ubuntu/debian is to build it from source & make debs with fpm.

    Hm. Maybe it would be better for business if I didn't publicly announce when my own dogfood is down.

    Given our special snowflake needs, we're in a pretty good place wrt hosting, I think. Though I wish our remote hands were closer to the DC.

    Professionally I don't have to get unanimous agreement to change things, but I do on the server my friends and I run.

    I wouldn't make the same choices in a professional context. A VPS is fine for a business but personally I don't like the security tradeoffs.

    I feel like such a bad sysadmin when my personal server goes down for such a long time.

    *sigh* In addition to panacea being down all day today, it will be down most of tomorrow. I hope no one needed to contact me via email.

    Just closed 100 file-backed buffers in emacs. I still have 370 open.
