@grahamperrin it used to be that sometimes dents would eventually appear, sometimes not at all. now they don't at all.

in addition i told emacs to treat Cmd (Caps Lock key) as Control, so C-... in Emacs is on homerow too: (setq mac-command-modifier 'control)

reshuffled my keyboard settings again: Caps Lock is Cmd, Ctrl is Ctrl and Alt (on my old IBM keyboard) is Option. now cmd+key is on homerow!
