@stevegillmor I would like to have everything in real-time not just twitter and other microblogging services

  2. Rolf Schewe Rolf Schewe Steve Gillmor

@stevegillmor I mean for services that are retrieved via RSS such as Google Reader shared items, blog titles, or flickr photos.

@stevegillmor this polling of RSS from these services with these long delays does not seem sustainable

@stevegillmor What do you think is going to replace RSS to deliver social networking data in real-time?

@kshep there is a comment thread over on FF over that blog post for the "Real-Time" API. Steve got in the mix.

@kshep Maybe a little better than twhirl but this is no XMPP. Step in the right direction though. Let's see what happens.

@kshep Is http://blog.friendfeed.com/2008/10/keeping-it-real-with-friendfeed-real_21.html the FF API Steve Gillmor was talking about?

@stevegillmor it may be a mix. some services seem to come fast and others have a long delay we need xmpp for all nodes/services on FF

@stevegillmor BTW you should add your TechCrunchIT and Gillmor Gang feeds to your FF account.

@stevegillmor FF needs a lot of work w/real-time. Polling delay results in floods of old content. Maybe it's a combo of delays on both ends.

Dow down 500 points. The bailout bill in Congress failed to pass. Ouch. 401Ks are toast.

Now what? The Yankees' season is over. I am split between rooting for the Cubbies or Dodgers in the playoffs.
