You don't need everyone on other places. Just your key network to make it valuable. It might be the BuddyCloud will make it all ok.

I could imagine that maintaining the state necessary for running an XML stream makes it impossible for XMPP to scale as well as e.g. IRC.

@clacke @eightyeight What about the software used by jabber dot org? Surely that can handle lots of users.

@lnxwalt Heh. No. That device is highly unreliable. It clearly demonstrates that XMPP cannot scale.

I don't think spam filters are a good approach. Spam needs to be prevented before it happens. Difficult, but possible.
