Introducing Booktype, the #opensource platform to write and publish #ebooks - http://bit.ly/A5eVtj sounds good

@cwebber oops. #metaeprefix
-
@glynmoody: Looks cool. À propos #eBook write&publish platforms, have you seen Leebre? — http://leebre.org
-
@eff if you use #https to get data from a trusted place to an untrusted one, it's not really that secure.
-
I hate it when I hit "close other tabs" instead of "undo close tab" EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT I WANTED!

I'm most excited about the cc0 bit, since I've been bugging them about it for months. The rest of that is pretty awesome none the less =)

Question, would anyone be opposed to #gwibber filtering out Facebook app links? Does anyone really care to see farmville spam?
-
@kenvandine do it!

I came downstairs to @paridy singing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" to our 2 month old son. #thoughtitwouldbeme #needtolearnmorelullabys
-
99 bottles hard to beat for length, which can be key. Can suggest ridiculous improv verses for "Hush, Little Baby" as alternative.

@greg indeed. oddly good.

prolly bug, not unpredictable http://status.net/open-source/issues/3577 I suppose we should thank @fontana #contextgenocide for revelation

@samatjain I still doubt date-based problem. I currently can't retrieve past 370, which now is in 2009-04.

Thought of the moment: Mobile apps for your bank account encourage bad password practices (short/easy to type in on a mobile)

I'm transferring all my good keys from a keyboarded phone to a keyboardless one and realizing: we need a different form of mobile auth.

Anyone knowledgeable in crypto/security looked into #Tomb? http://ur1.ca/83n0q I like some of the ideas. #encryption

just as a thought experiment, how would people feel about software patents *if* there was *no* software copyright?

Last go. If my code's under copyright I control, you cannot use the code w/o my perm. If under a patent, can't use the idea my code encodes.

@trashheap AFAICT js for layout is like-html, not ethical issue, like built-in blobs is like-a-circuit; FSF accepts trivial (<64c) blobs too
-
@lxoliva I have to agree here, fsf makes it very clear in the articles that it refers to non-trivial js PROGRAMS, like google docs
-
@trashheap does it seem to you that this combined work would respect users' four essential software freedoms?

nice work, although the headline immediately brings to mind #colbert's book :)

Nice!

The headline actually came from the Post editors, but I am in fact tickled by it for that reason. :-)

Something that is popping in my head more often lately: managerial capture.
-
@pete see: regulatory capture for its etymological base.
-
Ah, thx. Was having a tough time parsing that, but that makes sense now. Apply that now to the concept of "managerial capture," if you will.
-
@greg in mine for several years. especially troubling when principal (in principal-agent problem) is public benefit rather than investors.

After chewing on it, I've come to the conclusion that I'm fine with polygamists not being able to marry.

@johnnynull you're defending a legal structure that has no purpose other than bigotry, you are aware of that right?
-
@kevingranade No, that's not the case. I know you'd like it to be, but that doesn't make it so.
-
@kevingranade @ladyj had me read this aloud 3 times to appreciate the utter stupidity of this statement. Congratulations.

hah! I've had this post in my notepad for a while, but I only recently felt good enough to make it public. Would love to read yours!

EERILY similar to our first daughter's birth. @majnoona, you should read this.

Uh, not sure if I'm up for that... it's only been 6 years, I'm not quite over it.
